tldr; How to pack on this kind of bike?
Hi guys, I live in Germany and have no experience with backpacking. Between switching jobs, I have a one month break and I want to make the most out of it. I have a Swapfiets one month subscription for their ebike. I want to use it for my bikepacking adventure of around 15-20 around Germany.
- The bike has no rear rack, how should I organise my equipment?
- Is it even practical to use this bike for such an adventure? I don’t plan to go mountain biking. I also don’t want to buy an ebike, but I want to test how it goes.

Don’t.
It’s highly impractical to only have a rack on the front as you can’t properly distribute the weight
i would look at seat post and universal mount rear racks before giving up on this bike. how long is your trip going to be? if it’s just an overnight we or two dayer, i don’t see why you couldn’t do it on this ride
Where do you plan to charge it?
I would buy a cheap used bike with Kleinanzeigen and maybe dont look to close to a city. If you wanna learn something, buy a bike and repair it. Further i can recommend https://1nitetent.com/en/home-2/ for sleeping and bike path besides rivers
Bikepacking or biketouring ? Doesn’t look like an appropriate bike for packing but any bike can do for touring. It all depends on the type of terrain you plan to cycle on.
If you’re planning on touring, get a rear rack and some basic panniers and you’ll be good to go.
