What exactly are you looking for in a bike?

I rode a bike similar to this, a late 1970s Nishiki, for a bit. They’re heavy (that hi-ten tubing is not so great), use lower-end groupsets (the stem shifters are a tell), have limited & non-indexed gearing, and brake poorly (both the U brakes and steel rims contribute to that).

I lived in a hilly place at the time, so I didn’t enjoy riding it very much, and I’m glad the bike that replaced it (a 1980s CroMo Fuji, no less!) was much more of a bike than this was.

That said, people did and do have fun on them. If you’re looking for a period piece and have the money & space to store it, go for it — life’s short. If you’re looking for a bike for more basic cycling purposes, something newer will serve you better — bikes have come a long way since this model.
