Just got this bike and am wanting to put a shorter stem on it. The stem is 1 1/8… couldn’t find anything at the community shop in town. Any ideas on what the best move would be?
Just find something online? Get a new fork/headset all together?
Excited to get it ripping though!

Get a Threadless quill adapter and then use whatever modern stem in any angle and lengthy you want. No need to replace a good fork and headset
Oversized quill stems are a little rare. You’ll have more luck at an old-head shop or on eBay. They are out there.
Or put it together and try riding it first, to see if you even need to fix this problem. It’s maybe not a nice enough bike to be giving yourself headaches over.
This is sick as hell.
i had the same problem – profile designs makes a threadless adapter in 1 1/8th, and soma
fab has a 1 1/8th -> 1 inch threaded adapter. having used both, the profile adapter felt more solid. had to get the soma adapter because i needed more rise than i could get with the threadless one and its fine for my commuting but its definitely less huckable than it was with the profile threadless
Your LBS will have one in stock or can order one lickity split
if you sell your soul to the devil for a sick bike this is what you get
