I picked this up on a lark from a local yard sale. I had been looking for an older steel frame bike that I could just kind of set up however I want. Once I got it home, I discovered that underneath all of the grease and grit and grime there was a bike that was in much better shape than I thought! The handlebars were some heavy steel risers, so I swap those out with a flat aluminum bar that matches the vibe of the bike much better. I added some OURY grips that match the vintage of the bike. The ThinkSlick tires don’t quite match the bike, but they soothe my purpose better than the Walmart mountain bike tires that the previous owner had on it. I think my favorite part is the u break mounted under the chainstay.
There is still a little bit of work to do on it to get it where I want it to be. The rear derailleur has a little bit of a catch in it and I don’t know if that is because of the chain or the freewheel or some other alignment issue. I plan on fully repacking all of the bearings since everything is serviceable and spins smoothly but the grease is old and dry.

Love this! Those tires look like they make this bike fun to rip! Skids all day!

I happen to have that same frame, same year. The u-brake on your bike is not original. Please do tell what the replacement is! Also….those chainrings are not biopace. Know what they are? Thanks 🙂

That is definitely “Old School Cool”. Love the Slicks. But the saddle needs to go. I’m thinking Brooks Cambium?
