Yesterday I picked up this beautiful CAT MX-1. Never heard of this manufacturer before. The company’s name „CAT“ stands for City-All-Terrain, the MX-1 was the lowest models of their MTB models, but I liked the colourway and picked it up for 20€.
The condition of the frame is surprisingly good, except for a few scratches here. It was fun to ride through the local forest, but it takes a little love (bottom bracket, brakes are squeaky) – nothing to worry.

What should I do with it? I was thinking about a classic commuter with nice looking mudguards and comfortable handlebars.

  1. Nice score…
I regret not having picked up a few when living in Frankfurt…

  2. This bike looks awesome. I mean it’s fine as is, if it were mine though, it looks like 1 1/8 head tube so id be getting a fork like a p2 or something and making it 1×12. I know that’s not for everyone but it would look cool with a black straight fork like a p2 on it

Maybe put screws in that second bottle holder attachment on the seatpost guiding tube. It’s going to get dirty pretty quickly.

  4. I’d usually say some nice swept cruisy bars and a new stem but the colour matching of the stem and the bars is so good for once I would be inclined to keep them!
