I got the microshift ten speed friction shifter but I did not like the positioning of it, Had to move my hand into a weird position a lot to shift gears. So I went with the Sunrace slm96 left friction shifter and flipped it upside down. Now this is a much better position. I do still have to move my hand a bit but only to go from the largest cog to second largest then it’s all good. It’s cheaper but still really solid metal construction. Just wanted to post about it cause while I was looking into it I had some trouble finding info on these kinds of things.

  1. Thanks.
I ride this shifter and like it a lot.
Are you shifting 10-Speed now, as you switched from 10-speed microshift?
Thought the pull-ratio wouldn’t fit and the indexing has no extra

  2. I did the same for an 8 speed build once and it’s a really solid option. The hack is that the left side shifter isn’t indexed so you can friction shift everything with it. It’s super cheap, looks good and shifts fine.
