I now have most of my kit and decided to do a test pack to see if everything fits and to go on a couple of test rides. I'm still missing a couple of small things, but I have space allocated for them. The front bag is all for food. It's not huge, but at most I should need to do 1 day without shopping. The frame bag is from Capricorn Bags here in Switzerland, and I'm happy I got it over the Apidura one, since it fits very nicely. Things I'm still missing room for are TP, kindle, sunglasses (they're so bulky and brittle), and my Shokz OpenRun (same problem as glasses). I'm also missing the token camping cup that I'm planning to hang from my saddle bag. I also need to find a way to attach lights. My helmet has built in lights, but they're not very strog, not does the battery last long.

I did a 60km / 600m ascent test ride today and surprisingly it didn't take me much longer than what it did last time without bags. I do notice that I need to work harder on climbs and wouldn't have minded a lower gear.

Let me know what you think of the setup.

i think i would be scared to leave it outside when going in the shop 🙂

looks good! fairly similar to my setup. I added anything fork cages with small dry bags for a bit more storage. I also really wanted a lower gear so I switched my front chainring from a 40t to a 34t wolf tooth and removed 2 chain links.

  3. Can get a 38t chainring to pair with your cassette (10-44t?) Won’t have to alter chain length, or remove crank. Easy to swap chainrings on Ekar.
