It sucks that Brompton explicitly say that “trailers shouldn’t be used”.
I put a burley cub on the back of my “acoustic” M6R – but it’s a 2013 bike – any warranty has long expired. And it rode just fine. A trailer can work on the bike, just Brompton say “no” and might use it to wriggle in the event of a failure during the warranty period.

Did you need to add the axle adapter, or just put the hitch on the normal axle? My axle seems a little short to just add the hitch

Does your 6 year old happily sit in it? Mine has recently turned 6 and is starting to mention on some days that she wants to change the trailer (she’s been using it since 2 years old).
