I saw this Dolan listed on ebay a few days ago and couldn’t stop wondering, what’s up with this rear axle. This is not the original axle that comes with the Marvic Ellipse wheelset, isn’t it?

Nothing looks out of place to me. What are you seeing that’s odd?

I think it is the original axle just really worn out as well as the hex nuts. Hard to tell from this angle but judging from logic, the Mavic Ellipse hub uses proprietary parts so my best guess is original axle and some random track nuts that just happen to be the right threading for that axle.

It’s just a longer axle that’s meant for 130mm road frame conversions when used with wider end caps, similar to this:
Can’t tell you if it’s an original Mavic part or an aftermarket axle, though.

Could be that the axle spacing is off center if the other side is real short, otherwise it’s just that the axle is meant for wider dropouts, shouldn’t effect anything
