  1. Damn, it’s a tough decision to make. It depends on how you’re actually going to use it. I would modify the heck out of it. But then you have those annoying historical preservationists that want to have everything original stock condition polishing brass on the Titanic knowing damn all it’s going down, hate those guys, but your choice ultimately, you know have fun with it, get out and enjoy it.

As much as I like seeing an MB-1 looking great in its original trim, I think you should do whatever makes you ride it most.

  3. I always ride old bikes as they are to see how they feel and experience them just as they were for the time period. It feels like going back in time and getting to feel what people decades ago did, and it’s always a thrill. After a while, I start to think about how I can make the bike my own and switch things up.

Whatever you decide, do what makes you happy and will ensure you ride it for years to come.

I am an unapologetic restomod guy. Take the existing positives and AMPLIFY it with modern tech. This effectively guarantees you will ride the fuck out of it.
    YMMV

  5. As my MB-1 project is awaiting myself, too: I would ride it in the condition it is now and would modify it to 2*7 (or 1*9 if you want to dismiss the derailleur). Probably another saddle, depends how the original fits and maybe a wider bar.
