I have a 1996 GT LTS Fully and want to sell it. A potential buyer stated the bottom part looks weird.
But it’s the same on both sides.
What are your thoughts?

Sick bike. Welds look fine to me. Maybe not a stack of dimes, but I think GT knew what they were doing
Yeah its hand welded. Not machine welded. A machine weld can look good but not necessarily as good.
Doesn’t look any worse than the rest of the welds elsewhere. It’s a looker with XT so buyer is trying to wear you down for a price reduction. Don’t do it.
Potential buyer has no clue. You look at it. It’s your bike.
The buyer is dumb. From selling a fair few bikes, this is common bullshit people pull to try and save some dollars. That person doesn’t deserve this beauty, I wouldn’t sell it to them out of principle
Welds are fine. I have a 1993 LTS-1. I think this is a ’93 as well. I can tell by the rear brake posts. It only fits canti style brakes, V-brakes won’t fit. They changed the angle of the posts in ’94 to accommodate v-brakes.
Don’t know anything about GT but my 1997 Specialized used a funky aluminum alloy that apparently was hard to weld so there are these very lumpy beads on it. Twas an era of experimentation.
The hell?! These forks go for 300€ where I live, how does nobody want that frame?!
At some point no one can guarantee you anything but the welds don’t look problematic, just hand welded and a bit sloppy.
However it’s lived this long, I don’t think the welds have a lot more to prove 🙂
Sweet bike, don’t let the buyer fleece you
It’s a fixed weld. It looks good but keep an eye on it.
Welds can be my grandmother. Strong but ugly. Nothing to worry about there.
This bike is AMAZING. That’s what production aluminum welds look like.
I just had a look at my ’98 LTS-2000 and the ugly weld is on the V Bosses instead of the seatstay like yours 😂 and that’s a very nice example you have there, love the AMP fork!
