Forgive me if that’s a silly one but: are the latest boost saddles from Selle Italia (SLR, Flite, Novus) safe for bib shorts? Got few issues with similar one – model X which tear few pairs of bibs.

I am posting this question here, since it all started with Selle Italia Model X which is AFAIK the default OEM saddle for Canyon bikes. I first met it on my Grizl AL7 and instantly fall in love with it. Bought second one for my road bike and was happy for a few months until I realized that all my bib shorts are almost teared in the place where bib fabric touches the edge of a saddle. Quick googling and I’ve figured out that… that’s the case for almost every Canyon, or rather every bike that came with model X. Very grippy surface and (what is more likely), saddle padding is not covering the entire saddle "shell" (I hope that’s the correct word for it!), leaving part of it exposed (pic rel, black saddle is model X).
I have just rented another test one, SE Novus Evo Boost (L3 too) for a few days. Shape is almost the same, so is the comfort. However, I am still wondering if it is not going to destroy another pair of bibs. I guess there are at least few folks here who rides on Flite, SLR or Novus with similar construction so I guess that’s a question for You! 😀

  1. No, the X is terrible. Worst saddle I have ever attempted to use. Wore a hole extremely quick in a pair of bibs I had.

I can kind of understand putting a cheap crap saddle on new bikes as this is the thing that most people will change, but it is really bad.
