Im planning to go middle of july to northern norway to do some bike touring. I have problems to decide which route to go. I planned loop around senja. In this route i can go back to finland by bus from tromso. If i go all to way to the tip of the lofoten, i need to go by bus to narvik and take a train to luleå etc and it is difficult . It would be easier to go to tromso from finland and go back to finland also from tromso. If im taking this loop, i will lose the best part of the lofoten (also the busiest, its tourist season, and i have already been there) is there people who have been exploring around senja and lofoten. Do you think this loop is worth it or do i lose too much when im not hitting to the tip of the lofoten. Also one great thing about this loop is that if i want to chill or my time is running out, i can take expressboat from hinnoya straight to the tromso. Also do you have experience of expressboats with bicycle😎

  1. The west side of Andøya and Senja is amazing! I toured there last summer. Your loop looks good. If you stay in a hotel in Harstad I can recommend “Clarion Collection Hotel Arcticus”. You get breakfast lunch and dinner included. All you can eat buffét which is nice after days in the saddle.

  2. Bring excellent waterproof gear. Also be prepared for long distances between shops. I did the linear lofoten route you suggested (started at Tromso), and it is beautiful. But it rained on us a lot, and was very cold despite being August (5C). We didn’t see so many tourists, but that might have been because of the weather. Because of the weather, the views were limited a bit, but I don’t think you’d get a much worse experience doing the loop. Our favourite bit was the west coast of Andoya, but that may have just been because the weather was a bit better then.
