Same happened to me last week. I was with Giant’s Defy stock tires, switched to GP5000 STRs, and the impact was impressive. Just on weight they are 230gr lighter each!

I changed from a lightweight bike to a heavier (new one). I ride faster.
The following year I looked at the old bike longingly and rode it again. I went faster again.
New gear placebo is marvellous for me. No matter what new gear I ride, I go better.

Running tubeless? Or at least switch to TPU?

I would never have believed the difference if I hadn’t witnessed it for myself. I’ve been riding on cheapy American Classic tires (hey, they’re $45 on Amazon – half of GP5ks) and a riding buddy was riding on something similar. I would always just roll away from him on descents with us both in the same riding position (I think I’m about 10# heavier than he is.) He switched to GP5ks and now he easily rolls away from me – I have to pedal a bit to keep up with him on descents. At least until there are curves or stop signs involved – he’s on rim brakes and I’m on discs so I easily outbrake him.

The best feelings in road cycling:
1) riding your first road bike
2) replacing your first road bike’s original tires with Conti GP5000s (although it was GP4000 back in my day)
3) replacing your first road bike with a nice carbon bike
4) getting your first set of nice carbon wheels

How would you all say gp5000s compare to gatorskins?
