As a year-round commuter for many years I've changed up my everyday carry repair kit quite a bit. I try to make sure I have what I need to deal with most problems and it's pretty rare that I run into something that I can't handle on the road.
1. Spare tube
2. Patch kit
3. Tire levers (Pedro levers)
4. Crank bros. M19
5. Planet bike mini pump w/ CO2 filler head
6. CO2
7. Cyclops mini electric pump
8. Leatherman Wave
9. Spoke repair kit(I usually keep this in my touring kit not my commuting kit but it happens to be there today so I'm including it)
10. Tire boot
11. Wolf tooth 8-bit pack pliers
12. Ottolock(easy to carry deterrent for a quick coffee stop)

What do you keep in your kit?

Pretty much the exact same kit I carry. I have a pump but not a fancy shmancy one lol.

    My EDC consists of

    1. My mini U lock

    2. My phone with rideshare apps

I run gatorskins year round, flats are so exceedingly rare for me. If I ever need to change a flat I’m doing it at home after retrieving my bike.

  3. Here is what lives in my saddle bag: 2 tubes, mini pump, 1 tire lever, a spoke wrench that fits my wheel, a park tool patch kit, and 4mm and 5mm allen key, spare hair tie. I should really add 5 or so zip ties.

I take my phone and minimal wallet in my pockets.

While on a ride if i get a flat i just swap tubes and patch at home. If something breaks that i can’t fix with a 4 or 5mm allen or otherwise bodge, i guess I’m calling for a ride or walking.

Just what I need and nothing more.

    3, 4, 5, 6mm hex

    Tire levers, spare and pump.

    2x Spare Inner Tubes

    Patch Kit

    Tire Levers

    High Pressure Mini Pump

    Multitool

    Quick Link

Ironically I don’t carry pliers and don’t have a chain tool… so the quick link really isn’t that helpful. Next time I need a multitool, I’ll probably buy one with a chain tool in it like you have.

I commute year round in northern Illinois, 12 miles each way. I carry a fraction of what the op carries. I have a nice mini pump, tubeless plugs a tube and a tire lever and a crank bros m5. I keep my bike in good shape so if anything catastrophic happens my phone will get me picked up

    Top tube bag ,
    1. combo lock
    2. Gloves
    3. Neck gator
    4. Extra light
    5. Lighter
    6. Snack bar
    7. Nicotine pills

So far no issues with my gatorskins , but anything over 30 miles I will put on my saddle bag with the repair stuff

  8. Honestly? Nothing.

My commute is pretty short at 4.3mi/6km. Most of that distance is on a mixed use pathway beside our city’s light rail. At absolutely worst, I’m facing about a mile walk from home with the bike if I have a mechanical issue. And if it’s a drivetrain problem, most of that distance is downhill, so I can — and have — coast it home.

  9. Do you like the Otto lock? I’m debating between that or the abus light chain. Which should I get? Also how do you like the electric pump?

My cell phone. My ride is only 2 miles each way and I have tools both at home and work. I’ve yet to need to push the bike but I’ve had to work on dumb stuff at work 😂

  11. Can you take me thru the procedure of getting a flat on your way to work? Like flesh that out for me. Are you then limping to work and repairing it during your lunch break? Or do you stop on the side of the road and fix it? How long abouts does that take? Is it fun?
