I'm trying to get my chain loose by opening the 12s powerlock with a tool. However, I can't get it loose after using the tool. I'm probably doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.
After I had placed the powerlock in the (I think) correct position using the tool, as shown in the video, I tried to force it a little bit to get it open, without success.

The chain and power lock are new.

Photos are a little blurry, but that doesn’t appear to be a 12spd master link? I believe SRAM’s are all embossed with ‘12s.’ Potentially a counterfeit or incompatible part giving you grief?
In the photos, the master link pin appears to be sitting behind the outboard plate ready to pop out. I usually give a very slight twist to the ML Pliers to force the pins out, applying mild lateral pressure. Perhaps try that.
