So I’m switching out cassette on steel 105 (5800) bike to put in a bigger one.
The free hub cam off when I removed the cassette so ended up taking that apart and lubricating it.
Just tried to put bike back together and wheel no longer fits in dropout on one side (and just that one side – the gap in the frame is too big for the piece protruding from the wheel. You can see this in the photo above – that is as far in as it will go. It goes in fine to the other one so this leaves the wheel severely angled.
Did I re-assemble the wheel wrong? Am I missing a part?

Did the dropout get bumped or bent and pinched shut slightly?
The picture of the axle in the dropout is quite blurry so it’s hard to see what’s actually going on
at first it looked like the dropout got crimped a bit. but the nut on the end of the axle does look possibly backwards? like, i would expect the drive side of the axle to have exposed threads, like the left side. but that could be just how that wheel is, i don’t know.
Is the slot in the frame aligned with the slot in the hanger? Sometimes the hanger can get rotated a bit. Also your derailleur isn’t mounted to the hanger correctly. The lower tab should be sitting on the lip of the hanger.
You really need to wipe the hand cheese off your camera lens. You cant see much at all.
