A Film By Barry Godin and Allen Boardman – Edited by Barry Godin

Allen Boardman Edit – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9SP6bh5Mg8

In July 2022 we set off to Iceland for a 7 day adventure, and what an incredible trip.
It was my second time bikepacking and 3rd time to Iceland, but it was Allens first, so I created a route which took in all of the greatest sights southwest Iceland has to offer. Thingviller, Geysir, Gullfoss, Haifoss and a truly incredible trail though geothermic landscapes from Nesjavallavirkjun. That day was one of the most spectacular and exciting trails I have ever ridden.

The one thing you get to experience in Iceland is truly vast landscape of nothingness, it is a feeling I had been long to go back to, and one that is give you a true sense of adventure

We both shared our footage to each other, all 21.5 hours of it, and set out to craft individual edits of our experience. And we never saw a glimpse of each others until they were released so please do go over and have a watch – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9SP6bh5Mg8

  1. Great video Barry. Hope you will get to visit my island a bit more often. Have to point one thing out though. This is the South West of Iceland. Not South East.

  2. Awesome!!! Makes me wanna travel again to Iceland with my bike this time. Did you bike from KEF to downtown ? If so, where did you leave the bike box and bag? Thanks

  3. Mega! That hut with the bikestand at the airport was a gift, what did you do with the bike boxes? Left luggage? Very noticeable how clean everything was, with no rubbish at the side of the roads.

  4. Fantastic trip Barry! I visited Iceland in 2021 and drove the ring road and think about it often. I would love to try it by bike.

  5. Only half way through and I feel I must comment. This is so great to watch and the cinematography is excellent. Biggest compliment that I can pay you Barry is it is up there with the high standards of videos a lady motorcyclist tourer called Itchy Boots produces who I also follow. And she has 1.5million followers. Hopefully your achieve the same and the monetary gain will allow you to produce more videos.

  6. Thanks for the video, what great single track around the geothermal area. I live in Iceland and Im going to do that single track, next time you come I would like to bike with you😉

  7. What an absolutely stunning landscape 😍 Between the two of you you captured it so well 👌 That off road trail was something else 😱 Will have to watch Allen's version too 👍 🙂

  8. Finally!!! – Had to watch in two parts but what a film and trip!!! Epic guys, so enjoyed… THANK YOU!!! Keep up the great work and looking forward to watching Allen's edit too!!

  9. Your taking some big risks😢. Do you find out about volcanic activities before your set off? Because I'm pretty sure one area you went through, either on this one or another, that you had ridden through a volcano caldera, which is only visited by professionals twice a year because its too dangerous to go there more often, as it is over due to erupt.
Also check out Ray Mears survival info on how to cross a river, it make it a lot safer for you.

Any chance of putting all the information about your bike, not so much the bags, although thete are people that would like that info too, but I'd like to know….Did you have to buy the frame abs get everything separate and have it built?
    What frame?
    Forks?
    Rims?
    Tyres?
    Gears?
Just about everything about the bike.
As it looks alike a really good chunky bike that I'm after. As it has bigger tyres.
Then bigger question, how much did it come to?
    Thanks

  10. Great video, reminds me of my honeymoon there in 1997! We didn't have the problem with flies but probably went a bit earlier in the season. The internal roads look a bit better than I remember! We did 28 fords in one day, absolutely killing but worth it.

  11. An amazing video! Recently visited South West Iceland and got to relieve it all again through your video. Inspired me to tackle Iceland with the Bike in Future!
