Soo what’s up with this ? Fairly new to bmx but I’m restoring a old 2010 TLR 3 with factory paint back to its in original state and as I scroll through the fit site I keep seeing all this fit/S&M stuff (banners mats etc) not parts or anything just merch basically. So I look up on google “is fit and S&M the same company ? According to fitbikeco official website “ITS ALL THE SAME $HIT.” So what are we paying extra for? Materials work logo? What is it? I’m honestly shocked one of the cheapest brands in bmx is one of the most expensive and vice versa lol. 😂 holy smokes I hope there’s a difference, even tho fit said there’s not. You can google it they said that. So I guess if you guys still think fit is going down in quality, look at S&M too…. Might be the fact they’re able to just mainly focus on putting all the quality into S&M a brand known for not just quality but a big ole price tag so they can sell more bikes? Hmmm idk man what’s your guys thoughts? If you knew this already which most of you prolly did I know ima noob lol 😂

Can you put your headset together correctly if you’re going to take close ups of it?
Just like everything else, it’s a sliding scale, Fit imports all the completes from Taiwan, and S&M makes everything in America including fit frames/forks. They spec their completes with more generic parts, but they’re good bikes. Not made by s and m, but designed by them.
fit and s&m are two brands operated by the same person/people/company. s&m frames and parts are made in the USA in their shop. the fit AFTERMARKET stuff is also made in the USA, meaning most (not all) frames, bars, and stems and are priced accordingly. fit also does complete bikes (as well as some frames and parts) that are made in taiwan. that TLR frame you have is from a complete bike made in taiwan. it is not the same as an aftermarket made-in-USA fit frame. i’m not going to look up what material was used for that particular bike but there is absolutely a difference between what you have and a fit young buck or hango frame, for example.
It’s like Toyota vs. Lexus.
Fit is Toyota. You’re still getting a good product, excellent value, etc etc etc. Some compromise might be made (Taiwan completes, some imported parts) but they’re cheaper.
S&m is Lexus. All badass super awesome shit, but you’re paying for it. It’s all made in house and they control just about the entire process. Moeller owns all the machines, the warehouse, the welders, etc. if you go to their YouTube, you can see all the stuff being made.
Can’t really go wrong either way, but if you want the most premium shit you can get, it’s s&m. Just be prepared for it to empty your wallet.
