Me and the wife are getting back on 2 wheels after an extended break, this means we have to somehow fit 2 MTBs into our one bedroom apartment.

With space being tight as it is i was looking into wall hanging solutions and found some pedal hook style hangers that seem to fit the bill:

The question is, are these fine for storing a bike long term or would it cause some damage to components such as the bottom bracket and pedal/crank?

For reference, the bikes are Scott Scale 980s, so they weigh about 13.5 KG.

  1. Honestly, can’t really answer your question, but I was considering that same setup for my mountain bike, but ended up going with Steadyrack.

Pedals, crank arms and bottom brackets are designed to be some of the strongest components of the bike. You should be just fine. Also, I store my ski bike like that during the summer without problems.
