I was anti-armor in the Army & A-10s were our air support. In addition to the gun, they’re just plain beasts in the air. I’ve seen footage of one making it back to base with 2/3 of a wing (other one was gone) & one operational engine. Looked like Swiss cheese after what it had been through.
