Basically what the title says, I was cleaning my bike and I noticed that the chain moves on the plate. I was wondering if if this is normal or if my chain is really worn out and I should replace it. I have not use this bike for more than a year.

now do it with the brake lever, rear der, rotor, suspension fork etc….. everything on you bike develops play from wear and tear
If you can pull the chain off the front of the ring and see significant daylight then it’s time for a new one. No special tools required.
