  1. GBs indeed can catch up with RBs because while Tires that using a holocaust with proper watt power theres really no difference its just tires and cassettes

  2. Same rider and same power – no, not even close. The tires are the biggest thing bc the big knobby tires sap at least 10W per tire. Then add the loss of aero from the wheels, the bike itself and most importantly the rider whoโ€™s in a more upright position and itโ€™s not even close.

If you like gravel more, have a set of wheels you swap in for road and youโ€™ll be fine as long as you arenโ€™t โ€œtrying to keep upโ€ for anyone.

  3. Tbh i like gravel bikes because its just between a road and an mtb. I mostly cycle to get a workout and also for speed. A gravel bike being heavier than a road bike means I'll have more of a workout.

  4. I kept up w my dad going 36 kph and Iโ€™m only 12 so a gravel can keep up but road bikes are less versatile than gravel but roads r more aerodynamic

  5. Maybe it can, but you'll have to reconcile with the fact that you're using the second best bike for the job… Personally, I can't do that.

  6. What is the main point of a gravel bike? They cant go mtb trails and they are inefficiencnt they took the bad from both and put them together to get gravel bike

  7. Gravel bikes are roadbikes with fatter tires. If you can compensate for increased weight and rotational mass of tires, it should be pretty close.

  8. Man them old people stay passing me up and I know my legs moving faster than them, they just be looking at me like Iโ€™m slow on my mountain bike lol
