It looks great! Enjoy riding it. If you love it, treat yourself to a Brooks b17 saddle 👌

  2. It looks awfully similar to my UO-8, but the black detailing and placement of the air pump lead me to believe this is the higher-end PX-10

  3. Damn that’s a beautiful find. I wanted to add – while I generally hate people who immediately say this – you should check whether it’s been crashed, because that front wheel looks awfully close to that downtube. Although it looks like the original front wheel so maybe I’m wrong and it just has very tight geometry. In any case, French bikes are super cool. I encourage you to go to bikesmithdesign.com and purchase some replacement cotter pins and a cotter press so you can properly overhaul the bottom bracket. You will likely destroy the original pins trying to get them out, and you need a rebuild because if the bb wears out, replacements are difficult to find. A repack will give it a new lease on life. French bikes also have wonderful geometry that gives them a uniquely smooth ride. You can also get new rubber brake pad inserts for those Mafac brakes, so please don’t throw them out! You can also get replacement jockey wheels by going on ebay and searching for “6mm jockey wheels” and those will fit the original Simplex rear derailleur. Good luck!

  4. Maybe it’s a weird camera angle/optical illusion BUT it appears that this bike may have been in a head-on collision with a curb, wall, car or other object. In this pic, the head angle looks considerable steeper than stock, the front wheel looks closer to the down tube than stock, and there appears to be a bit of a bend on the top tube near the TT/HT lug. The handlebar end obscures the part of the down tube that might have a wrinkle on the bottom. Again, maybe it’s an optical illusion per camera angle and front wheel turned a bit to the right, but I recommend you ask an experienced mechanic or, better yet, a framebuilder (which I am) to look at it. An experienced pair of eyes can tell you within seconds whether the bike has experienced a head-on crash.

Model year 72-73 according to the stickers. Probably a P10 or PA10. It’s not a PX10 because of the different lugs. The most valuable parts on this bike are the skewers, especially if the plastic nut holders are not broken. Very hard to find.
