Hello, noob here. The right shifter is indexed but the left isn’t. Is the left just for friction shifting? If so, will it work for a 3 speed? Thank you in advance!

Left thumbie is friction shift. These came off an old MTB so will be fine for a triple chainset.
I’ve used these shifters on 3 different bikes now and they’re just amazing. I don’t even bother with indexing anymore
