I don’t think it’s broken. The little nut on the derailleur dropout needs to be loosened so that the small clamp can get behind the bike dropout and be tightened up against it. The main force holding the derailleur on the bike is the wheelnut.
See that little silver nut / screw on the derailleur? You can use a screwdriver or a small spanner, it doesn’t need to be all that tight. Keep the cable above the derailleur and don’t let it get twisted.
