Hello Canyon Community! I've been riding a bike for years, but this year, I'm starting to get serious about riding a bicycle and I found out to be so much fun than I've think about it. So far, I'm using a City Rented Bike, BIXI (I live in Montréal) and already explored several places that's a little bit far from the city, including to the area with gravel route. I'm considering myself as a beginner in this cycling, but I want to invest in the bike that I will not feel regret to invest and will be keeping the bike for years to come. I always feel restricted by the time limit that the BIXI has and feel like I can go much further than when I'm using BIXI, especially outside of the city with no BIXI nearest bike parking station. I did some research for my new bike and it landed me to Canyon brand and 2 of this bike. I have few question before I make a purchase since I'm still new in this cycling environment and the community.

1) What's the different between Grizl 7 Grizl CF SL 6 AXL and is it justify to pay extra $750 CAD or are there any similar bikes that much more suitable for me or from different brands? (I mainly ride on the road 80% and gravel 20% and I don't really need speed since it's for the weekend and holiday recreational)

2) When I tried to measure for the bike size, the website recommended me to get 2XS (I am 163.6 cm/5'3 and my inner leg lenght is 73,9 cm/2'4 and it's near the borderline with the size XS. Do I get the 2XS based on the website recommendation or up one size? (I am a short man)

I tried to do my research, but some people said that you should defineatly up size and some people even said down size (theres a 3XS in the Grizl 7, but not the Grizl CF SL 6 AXS)

3) Since Canyon doesn't have an official store in Canada, will the LBS able to accept the bike to be repair/upgrade if needed? and is it hard to shipped Canyon bike to Canada since there's no official store in here?

Thank you for your opinions, tips or recommendations!

  1. Love-For-Old-Trees on

I’m the same size as you and I ride a 2xs. Glad I got that instead of the XS. Fits me well

  2. I just got the Grzl 7.  Been loving riding it around, and needed to get out to gravel roads asap.
Using Canyons software to determine the best fit for me, I was right on the line between 2xs an xs, decided to go for XS.

I could use a proper fit and have someone look over it but it feels fine great. Don’t feel out of position or stretching, cramped.

I tried the Cannondale top stone 2 and 3, and I was a small in theirs. From their top tube stand over dims, it was only 1-2 cm off.

Unfortunate that I couldn’t test ride the Grzl ahead of purchase.

Also I am a little disappointed in the welding work. The bedding it very noticeable and compared to last year’s model it doesn’t have the black splotches on the front tube.

Little details, but when spending 2K on A bike it would have been nice to have.
