Bought a $100 bike off FB as a beater bike to ride around my town. Is there a kit I can buy to add handlebar brakes? I think I need to replace the brake lines as well.

You can 100 percent operate the brakes from the top of the hoods.

But you’re going to have to probably run new brake cables, and you’ll have to rewrap your handlebar. I’d say it’s a 3 out of 10 as far as mechanical difficulty. But closer to a 5 out of 10 to do it perfectly and have it look good.
