I’m commuting on this (almost) every day. I’m still at the trying-different-saddles phase of the relationship, and I might put on a mustache bar that’s a tad more upright. So far it’s been only nice weather. I really like the 1×8 drivetrain; keeps things simpler while still giving me good gearing

I think you can reposition the hooks on your pannier to use the lower horizontal bar. Should lower the center of gravity and leave the top of the rack open for other stuff.
