I'm just looking through my parts list as I'm accumulating stuff for my next build, and I'm kind of flip flopping on wheels. I really like the feeling of a cassette, but I see so many people doing cool stuff with a coaster. I'm currently wondering if I should go with the Demolition wheel with the Whistler hub (that sound 🤤) or if I should get a planetary to have the best of both worlds. I was looking at an Alienation wheel (trying to do something different) with their Venus hub, but they're so expensive. I'd be dropping more on a back wheel than the frame! Just looking for feedback and if they're worth the extra expense. I know they definitely seem a lot lighter than most.

Side note: I was really close to just buying the hub and rim and having a wheel built (or building it) because Albe's had them for stupid cheap, but I think I missed out. Sold out and with a price that low, I can't imagine they're getting them back in stock, which led to me finding out how much a prebuilt wheel would cost.

  1. I have two coasters and two profile elite hubs.. the 1/4 turn engagement on the free coasters is hard to get used to. I much prefer the profile hubs but I’m not very good at fakie.
