    It’s not just putting on or taking off the helmet. It’s the helmet hair and your hair getting snagged by the helmet when you take it off (especially if you have your hair styled). There’s also the issue of what to do with the helmet when you’re off the bike. Now I do wear a helmet but only because of the fact that I ride an ebike with traffic. I rode 25 miles on a perfectly flat chill trail this weekend and I didn’t bother with a helmet.

  3. Sportive Dutch cyclists wear helmets and are responsible for 95% of head injuries due to cycling. On the other hand, Dutch casual cyclists (commuters, grocery getters, …) have much lower rates – approx those of drivers and pedestriand – and therefore don’t wear helmets.
