Anybody have any recommendations for a cycling helmet that works well with locs? Preference is to put my hair in a pony tail and somehow slip it though the cage. Let me know if you have any recommendations’

I’m not aware of helmets (this decade) that will fit. My brother had locs but, also a smaller head than me. He could wear a larger helmet (mine) but, couldn’t negotiate his hair through the back of the helmet.

I have thin European hair so don’t have first-hand experience. My first thought was that you could try a larger helmet size than you’d need if you didn’t have long hair/dreadlocks. If that doesn’t sit well, maybe it would help to wear some kind of hair covering/thin hat over your hair, under the helmet? If the helmet moves around too much, you might need to make some adaptations to the inside of the helmet: if your dreadlocks are always in the same kind of configuration/position when tied back (assuming that’s what you might want for cycling), maybe adding two “grooves” to the inside of the helmet, from the front to the back, kind of works to “lock” the helmet into position on your hairstyle? Just some first thoughts that came to mind.

Specialized helmets run really big. Hit up your local spesh dealer and see what they’ve got!
