I roadbike for about 20years, currently around 200km per week, 177cm height, 83inseam and I struggle with the sizing of my soon to be Aeroad.
Canyon suggests a S, but if I compare the geometry data to e.g. my Trek Checkpoint 54cm, which I love geometry wise on the road, it clearly looks like M would be the right choice, as all important parameters are the same. All my other road bikes have always been M and I feel that the Aeroad in S would be overly aggressive for me (stack/reach 1.38!). Anybody had same problems and can give advice?

  1. Stack/reach will be very similar on M too. Comparing your Checkpoint to the Aeroad does not really work size-wise because one is a very entry level road bike, the other is the top racer.

You are right in S, your size is an S for Aeroad. Whether the Aeroad is the right kind of geometry for you, it’s another story.

Finally, broadly speaking, Canyon’s S usually corresponds to a “54”.

  2. I would be happy, if I would have that clear size recommendation by this Canyon chart

    Really? Because you’re riding a 54 and a Canyon S is equivalent to a 54.

The size guide gives you a clear recommendation. I am just a little taller than you and have a slightly longer inseam, and a Canyon S is usually very close to where I want to be, an M would be way too big
