    Do not frack around with forks. If that snaps going down a hill you are going otb and possibly breaking your neck. I’ve been OTB and that was not a fun ER trip.

    Edit: OTB means over the bars.

    Forks are meant to be replaceable. It’s not the frame itself. Imagine if it failed while you were riding it

    So here’s the thing, the actual dropout of the fork can be aluminum with a carbon blade bonded into it. This can sometimes show paint cracks because of the different material response/stiffness in that transition. But it’s really not worth risking it because you don’t know if the two are starting to separate which could also cause that crack.

    I wouldn’t trust any damage like that on a for, if it breaks while you’re on it you’re basically screwed no matter how fast you’re going, unless you’re basically stationary.
