Hey guys, heading over the alps, coming in from Basel and looking to get to Ljubljana/Slovenia way.

Have no idea what routes would be best to take and would really appreciate any suggestions. Going to be on a loaded tourer so dont mind a climb or two, but nothing crazy. Im sure most places are scenic up there, but of course, looking for a nice scenic route!

Route it currently super rough, cycle.travel is really just doing all the leg work here.

Many thanks in advance.

  1. I did the Via Claudia Augusta from Fussen to Venice a few weeks ago – brilliant route through the alps, changing scenery and apparently ‘the easiest way to cross the alps by bike’. I thought it would be more remote but in fact busier than I thought. Mostly cycle paths which was lovley. One section bit more gravelly for my liking, but you can always adjust to your preference and follow the main road for a bit. I pushed my fully loaded tourer up a few hills. Plenty of campsites along the way, but try to find the smaller quieter ones – Italy likes big RV campsites which some felt like a resort. But overall great route though alps! https://www.komoot.com/tour/1528769989?ref=itd&share_token=aqOFpplHg9uogIyY8K3nEXeCkn8cf92V2bsZvmLqpGxy165cdT&ref=its
