That hole will let dirt and water in. Go ask your LBS is they have any or take the other one into ACE Hardware and get a replacement.

Do you have a decent quality hardware store in your area? Preferably not the big-box kind like Home Depot? One near me is super helpful in finding a replacement that fits if you bring in the part that the screw fits into.

Expensive when you factor in shipping.
Put a piece of tape over it if you’re worried about it. I’ve seen dozens of shifters missing that.
The shifter isn’t fully sealed as it is and something else will probably break by the time any water or dirt manages to mess anything up.
I wouldn’t worry about it
