Hi there! I'm planning my first bike tour. I'm starting in Ljubljana and heading towards Italy via Trieste. I'm faced with a routing question. One one hand, eurovelo 9 connects the two cities. This is seen in bold here in the Komoot app. Seems like the way to go. However, the purple lines show Komoot road bike specific routes, which here on this map signifies the Slovenian national cycle way route.
So- which should I take? Is there a general way to decide between a eurovelo route and a nationally designated cycle way? Or even a komoot-made route? Or is it always a case-by-case basis, and you just have to be familiar with this or that road/route? Thanks so much in advance!
edit: oops- here's referenced screengrab route https://ibb.co/GPYQTVK

I went to Gorizia rather than Trieste, but it’s well worth doing that detour. It was exceptionally pretty and there was barely any traffic.
This is the route I took. Ljubljana to Gorizia
