I can't shake the idea of a bikepacking trip through the Alps (from Munich to Lake Como or Lake Garda, Italy) trip, and would prefer a gravel/offroad route. Will be riding a rigid plus bike so not looking for a full on mtb route. Has anyone ridden the Albrecht route (or a variation)? Curious to hear what you think! I've never been to the Alps so am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the possible transalp routes. Link to info about the route: https://transalp.info/albrecht-route/

Hi there, if it can help I’ve done with a gravel bike (Kona Sutra LTD) a few summers ago both Passo di Verva and Passo dell’Alpe combined with Gavia. Those are long tough alpine climbs on gravel, sometimes rocky terrain. Technically they are not particularly challenging, although you might have to push at some point, especially with a loaded bike. Obviously, when going to the Alps, it helps to make a conscious effort to pack as light as possible. The key is fitness. Can you manage to keep climbing/pushing, although at a slow pace, for several hours on a hot summer day? If you’re confident about that, then you should have no problems. If you are not sure about your fitness, you might want to look for a gentler route.
