Settled on a gravel bike because i want to commute/exercise but also use it with my kids. What are opinions about the Specialized Diverge E5 as a starter? The 2023 model is $1300 but the 2022 model (which is apparently the same but with a different paint job) is available for $999.

Love my Diverge! It’s older now and I’m even older and slower but I feel like I’m in the Tour DE Frickin France. I love riding my bike.
It’s been on my mind for quite a while, and if circumstances were different, I’d have pulled the trigger on the $1700 model. I had the $999 in my cart twice, but got interrupted by life. So I’m ‘stuck’ with my diverge A1 (bought it used) and my Diverge Expert that I put together myself. Different machines with different uses and purposes and I’m really happy with both of them (although $ allowing, I’d upgrade the A1 to the E5)
I also have a Diverge E5, it rocks. I usually ride it as a road bike, but I’ve also bikepacked with it. Great, versatile bike. Absolutely snatch it up at that price.
Most fun and versatile bike ever. I got the same model in 2018 for the same discount and have loved it since. There is a lot of value packed into that bike for 1000 bucks
