I ride my bike to work and the building where I leave my bike is gated. I had thought maybe the heat could have expanded the tire but it wasn’t too hot today and my bike stays in the shade. Do popped tubes usually look like this ?

What’s the tire look like? If the slashes go through the tire then I highly doubt the tube did that to the tire
It’s possible that the last time the tire was installed it wasn’t done properly and it’s slowly worked its way off the rim, causing the tube to pop out and blow judging by your pictures that’s what it looks like happened you gotta always double check to make sure the tire is seated properly or this is the aftermath
