The first day set the stage for all of us and gave us an insight into what the rest of the week would look like. You learn a lot, especially what you should be carrying with you. The trails changed conditions, as the organizers said, but it was truly amazing! It is good to play it safe, as the ground gets slippery all of a sudden and you don’t expect it, so you need some time to accommodate these specific situations. Also, the organization shines so brightly, everything is well prepared, and you feel safe and comfortable throughout the day.

  1. I haven’t raced TransMadeira but i’ve been there just to ride the trails and they are soooo good. Highly recommend to everyone to go there one time!

Been to Madeira last year. Unfortunately as the only MTBer in the group so that wasn’t an option as common activity. Saw some videos afterwards and regret I did not go myself.

And you are right. Streets are VERY steep there and you can have 3 climate zones easily if you visit a mountain top, valley and eastern part of the island within a day. Plus completely different natural environments in those parts.
