  1. trainer resistance cut out at around 33:45 – so i was spinning fast on a hard gear but not moving fast. 21.5km in.
    129rpm on 52-11 gear on a 5% gradient was the problem and why i lost the chase group

  2. 57:35 tactical move – just before i got to the cobbles of the final climb I increased my effort. The idea was to surprise the group i was in and give myself a lead before hitting the climb itself.
    This gave me the advantage of not needing to keep at a max effort within a group and worry about a sprint finish at the top
