Hello everyone,

My husband just got a Canyon Grizl CF SLX 8 DI2 and there seem to be some issues. Also, I’m not a technical bike person, so I’m sorry if I use the wrong term or leave out a detail.

First, the front fork was missing the lever that you need to use to take out the axle and attach the wheel. The chat guy on customer service said this was normal but the instructions have it in the drawing, as do the pictures and video on the website. In the end he was able to use the one for the back wheel, but this seemed weird.

Second, the handlebar charge port seems to be missing a cap. The left hand handlebar has a little cap on the end but the right hand side (pictured) has some electronics things exposed. (Side note: do you really charge the gear shift, or is he messing with me? I’ve never heard of this before.) I’m thinking that maybe it just wasn’t supposed to come with one since the actual charging port has a little rubbery cover, but he is convinced that it should be there.

Has anyone ever had either of these issues before? Any advice for the handlebar charging issue? Thank you!

  1. So if he used the rear axle what is he using for the rear wheel?
Yes you need that port to charge your “gears” and everything the photo looks correct. You got a higher end bike with electronic shifting (that’s what the di2 stand for in the model name) and this is how you plug it in to charge it. In the box or bag you should have gotten the charger to do this as well.

Yes, you need to charge it. It has wireless shifting.

The handle on the rear axle likely slides out of the axle and can be used on the front axle. You’ll likely have to wiggle it. This is extremely normal on most through axle bikes

Those aren’t issues. That’s perfectly fine. That’s why the d2c model doesn’t work for everyone, you need to bring some experience to get all benefits.
