There used to be some kind of tube inside of that guide, but it's gone now. It decomposed in my hands. How do I run the brake line through it now? Where to look for that tube?

Bicycle cable liner or bicycle housing liner.
Or if you have a bit of housing laying around, you can strip off the outside and use the inner.
