With the lock-downs and my old steel Colnago frame splitting, I got myself a £20 frame from eBay and transplanted the parts across.

    Build:

    * 90’s Ricci frame and my old spare Kenesis 1″ fork
    * Ultegra-ish groupset, bit of electro-mech hybrid with 6780 Di2 11sp rear mech, 6770 brifter but mechanical 6700 front mech and a bust 105 left hand brifter. Means sticking to the big ring at all times. Mod’ed a mudguard bracket to tuck the battery under the bottom bracket – aero gains and all that.
    * Airline 4 wheels I used to use for training when I raced late 90’s. I had to relpace the freehub body to get them up to 11sp, otherwise they would have been heading to the bike charity or tip.
    * 20+ yr old Vittoria 25mm tyres which I’m gobsmacked haven’t burst. They’ve not seen tarmac since around 2005.
    * Cast off bars/finishing kit from……some where else. I think the seat post is off my dad’s Carlton from some time in the 1980’s he used to commute on.
    * Brakes: non-brand calipers with no blocks/pads, cos you don’t need them in Watopia and they’re only there to keep tension on the brake levers.

With the lockdown I’ve taken to riding Zwift each mornings. Normally I’d have been on the road and in races and Zwifting through the winter only. I prefer to use a burner bike rather than gumming up a race bike so I’ve used an old Colnago and now this frame which is similar geometry to my race bike. With everything going on, rather than getting fat on the sofa I’ve been enjoying training on this, riding Zwift and getting involved with online rides and races.

Until this all blows over, my Everyday Ride and now default bike on Strava.
