i packed up my brompton for flying by using two camping mats and two belts with fasteners. i removed the saddle first and carried it in my suitcase.
additionally, i let the package be wrapped in cling wrap, and checked it in as special sized baggage.
it worked reasonably well. because of my size, i have the extendable saddle post, and the top got bent a little – nothing i could not fix with good pliers.
