  1. I think in terms of keeping yourself on the bike consistently, finding ways to maximize your fun is important. Perhaps this means mixing up your routes, finding/mapping new routes out to try, pushing yourself on segments to see your progress, experimenting with a more playful riding style, meeting people who also ride, planning routes that stop at your favorite food/drink places. And then, of course, there’s gear! Larger bike upgrades are fun but perhaps it’s a new jersey every now and then, a new bag, a new bottle. Take photos on your rides, and share them!

    Riding your bike should always be fun. The exercise is the cherry on top.

    Edit: Oh, and also! No need to self-deprecate! You are only competing against your current self and its all progress. Besides, 35+ miles is more than most people can do.
