


Picked up a diamondback ascent (1995?) on the side of the road today. The components look pretty decent, all the cables look practically brand new, but the chain is completely finished and the frame is looking a bit rough.
The biggest issue is a part of the chain stay, it is bubbled out slightly and has a gouge in it.
I am wondering if the frame should be scrapped, or if it’s worth it to carry on and restore it. Thank you!!

Looks like more than a gouge from the photos? It goes fully through the frame?
If so, a good welder could repair it, but it would probably cost far more than the frame is worth. I would try and find another frame to swap the components on to.
