    I’m 57, and have more back pain than I used to. Scalloprisotto is correct. Stretch, and do strength exercises for your core. Planks. Crunches. Pushups.

    Beyond that, it’s definitely worth being sized to your bike. Your LBS should be able to help, or put you in touch with someone who can do this for you. It’s involved, but you’ll learn what adjustments you can make to make your bike fit you better.

    For myself, for instance, I ended up getting a stem extension to bring my handlebars up closer to the height of my saddle, plus I ended up with a seatpost height and saddle position that worked much better for my body. It made a huge difference.
