This video is still sadly a regular weekly occurrence on my bike commute here in KC. Let’s not discount the wonderful progress we’ve made but remember we still have work to do!
I like to try to stick to the positive improvements made here in Kansas City. u/BikeWalkKC , several members of our City Council Transportation committee, the Mayor, City Manager, and even KCPD have done an impressive job advocating, promoting, and implementing safety measures such as traffic calming and protected bike lanes. Kudos to everyone who has contributed to changing downtown Kansas City from a slew of empty parking lots back to a community of people living and working together. I’m looking forward to more progress in the future.

I found the contrast remarkable. The truck makes a whole lot of noise to accomplish little, and when it is out of earshot…silence. I enjoy that about cycling…going along at a human pace and mostly silence.
